I'm getting fatter!
OMG OMG OMG!
Today I was trying to wear my jeans.
The jeans used to drop like hell. But now I don't even need the belt.
I think I should really cut down supper!
Blah. I'm not FAT but I've gained a few KGs i think.
A very random post. -.-"
Was reading PinkPau's blog.
What a coincidence. Her latest post was about her main priorities in life, what and who really matters.
And that's what I've been thinking about lately.
What are my priorities?
Who really matters to me and who doesn't?
I've realized that I've changed a lot after something very upsetting happened early of the year. I've changed to a better person :)
The way I look at things.
The way I solve my problems.
Well at least I cry less. Ha-ha! And it's really funny that I can't squeeze tears out that easily anymore. I actually can cry within a few seconds if you want me to last time. LOL! Now it's a really very difficult thing for me. Okay back to the point.
Actually what I was trying to say is. I've finally know what and who are more important to me. Who are my friends and who are not. The family is really important. Because they are the people whom you gonna spend time with for the rest of your life. They are the ones that will give you moral support when you are weak. :)
It's true that..
Once you overcome many challenges in life, you will be stronger.
p/s stop asking me who I went out with today. It's a boy, yeah! It's not a date. He is just a friend. More like a brother. -.-" Tired of answering.

Oh what a crazy yet fun week this has been. Classes have started, both of our jobs are at peak time AND we had soccer camp at church every night this week... hence the reasons why I havent had the chance to post much :)
Soccer Camp has been a lot of fun! At Union View instead of a typical Vacation Bible School, we incorporate everything around bringing kids in to play soccer and therefore getting the chance to share Jesus with them. JR and I are both coaches (I am with the little ones and he with the big kiddos) and even though we really have no clue much about the actual sport itself, we have been able to love on plenty of kids and that has been so much fun! Enjoy this montage of the last 2 nights of camp... tonight is the final night!.

I found a little bottle of Punjab Red Tandoori spices at the World Market on Sunday (see UrbanAccents.com) and, after looking at the recipe on the side of the bottle, decided that this was something I could try making. The chicken marinated overnight Sunday to be ready for last nights meal. The marinate consisted of the tandoori spices (which includes red pepper, paprika, turmeric, nutmeg, coriander, cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, mace, anise, cloves, fenugreek, and fennel seed), lemon juice, plain yogurt, vinegar and oil. You can see judging by the ingredients in the tandoori spice that this is one instance where its best to just buy the spice already together instead of trying to collect each individually, even though I had many of these already.
Since we dont have the best of grills (and Im out of gas) we didnt grill as recommended but baked for about 20ish minutes, turning once. This was just enough time for our rice maker to cook up a perfect batch of rice for two. Weve been experimenting as of late with spicing rice while its cooking. Last night I sprinkled some of the tandoori spices and some garlic powder which in the end didnt give a powerful flavor but added a little touch. Once coupled with the tandoori chicken the rice was overshadowed by its dominating spice and heat. We had no trouble scarfing this down and would definitely make it again for something less typical. Fantastic flavor, the right amount of heat, and the perfect portion size with the rice (no side dishes).

remember when you sent your vcr home with me on the plane to show you were serious about moving here
remember when you used to type my papers and do my laundry while I worked Sunday nights in college
remember when the limo never returned to pick us up from the wedding ceremony and we caught a ride in our friends mini van and the entire wedding party had to be de-doghaired with maxi pads in the parking lot
remember when you drove out here in your sister's 1981 Ford Grenada filled with all your stuff and they pulled you in at the border and I had to come down and pledge that I would only let you stay 3 months
rememeber when we used to dress up in cute couples Halloween costumes: disco Miss Piggy and Kermit, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Drew Carey and Mimi
remember when 8 days before our wedding we found out I wouldn't be allowed back in Canada for 6 months and that would mean I couldn't go to our wedding reception or go to work
remember when we woke up the first morning in our first house and it felt like the best Christmas morning ever
remember when you washed all my wool sweaters in hot water before a ski trip in college and to this day you're only allowed to do your own laundry
remember the night we brought Aiden home from the hospital and it felt so awkward and surreal to have a baby in our house
remember when I said yes it was the best thing I've ever done!
Happy 9th Anniversary Dale.

I just returned from Celina where football coach Butch Ford is celebrating his 57th birthday today. He was chowing down on barbeque leftovers and chips for lunch. He fit me in for an interview before heading out to the Celina Quarterback Club Golf Tournament at McKinney's West Ridge Golf Course.
Here are some highlights from our interview:
* Celina returns only 12 lettermen from last year's 16-0 squad, the lowest number he can remember in quite sometime. Don't be fooled though. All of the returnees are high-quality - the kind you want to build a team around.
*Sensational junior middle linebacker Caleb Lavey, a starter since his freshman season, is recovering from a stress fracture on his leg sustained it during the spring. Look for this kid to be a top-notch recruit in 2010.
*Ford said the team's non-district schedule "might the toughest we've ever had in my years at Celina." Non-district opponents include Lytle, TCA-Addison, Daingerfield, Fort Worth Arlington Heights and Whitehouse. Lytle (Temple) and Daingerfield (Royse City) are neutral site games. Daingerfield is one of the few teams that leads its all-time series against Celina. OK. It was only one game, but it was a biggie. Daingerfield's the team that halted Celina's state-record winning streak (68 games) in 2002 in the Class 3A area playoffs.

TV stations and publications present to talk to rising star, Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors. A lot of press were talking to Tony Parker about his season as well as his personal life - Parker is married to TV star Eva Longoria. Brandon Roy was asked repeatedly whether he thinks the up-and-coming Blazers are going to be a playoff team next year now that Greg Oden is healthy. Roy told the media he thought they had a good chance to make the postseason.

Wes and I both have funny stories about our sisters trying to run away from home as young children. Neither of us ever gave it a try, and I never thought that one of my own kids would do so. However, today I was proven wrong. Surprisingly, this funny story does not involve Keagan, the comedian of the family, but Evan, the quiet and introverted son.
In the late summer Target has big sales on toys with the hope of making space for the new Christmas toys. Last year the sale was much bigger and better (I bought several gifts for the boys for Christmas that I got at bargain prices) than this year's, but today I found a toy that I thought Evan would love. It was on sale and only two remained on the shelf. I decided to buy one to be given at Christmas, and because Keagan was with me, I asked him not to reveal our secret. As soon as we arrived to soccer camp today, Keagan yelled across the field, "Hey, Ev! Mom and I bought you a toy." As you can imagine, all play came to a halt. This was just the beginning.
The boys searched for hours for the hidden toy. They used bar stools to search the upper shelves of my closet. They looked under beds. They even looked in the back of the car (as if I would be that careless)! Finally, Evan had a melt down. He told me I was cruel for buying a toy and not letting him play with it. I told him, "Tough!"
And that is when he decided to run away. With no shoes on, a bag of quarters in hand, and my car keys, he decided to walk to Target to buy a toy of his own. He got to my neighbor's house and my heart broke. I called him back home, and when I saw the big tears running down his cheeks, I crumbled. My tough guy stance faltered, and I dug the toy out of its hiding place in the basement.
I hope he doesn't try this running away business again or I will never be able to buy toys at sale prices again.

Yes, moving does stink. But, at this place in the game I have to remind myself of the positives...
1. it's a time to purge old/never used/taking up space junk. I love that.
2. people come out of the woodwork to help. we couldn't have done this without a lot of you.
3. i am more organized than i care to admit (and I think it drives my husband crazy, yet he's thankful at the same time).
4. we get to live where we desire to be (Santa Clarita- here we come!)
5. i realize God has provided more than I oculd ever need... amen.
So, another one of life's journeys begin. This weekend we are moving 100 miles to be where our hearts have been for a long time. There are several sacrifices involved, but we know God will provide and is completely in control.
PACK IT UP.

Hmmms 5:42am and I actually got up to go spinning today. This is such a chore for me lately and has definitely been harder since having a 3rd child. The class starts at 5:45 and Melissa (neighbor) and I usually leave around 5:20am to go claim our bikes. This morning Melissa slept in (which I did on Wed and do so many other days). So as Im going out to my car and noticing that Melissas lights arent on (my cue that shes not going) Im still thinking about going back to bed. I just dont have the energy to do this. Its been a long week and Ive stayed up several nights getting work done. I knowexcuses, excuses. So, I finally convince myself to get in my vehicle and go. I tell myselfI really need to go. I really need to exercise. It will help me feel better. OK, so Im driving to class. I get part way there and have to stop and think about where Im going. For a split second, I couldnt remember! Jill, youre tired, if you cant remember where youre going - you dont have the energy to do this. Quickly (I really didnt think twice about it), I decide I dont really want to do this today. Im dressed, I have my water bottle and my shoes and Im almost at the rec center! Nope, not going. So, where do I go? Oh, yeah, I can get a bagel at this hour (Tim Hortons are my favorite as most of you know). Off to the bagel place. 2 bagels please. I get one for hubby who has been up all night working on capital budget stuff. I get home and hubby just looks at me. Oh well, theres always tomorrow.
Update: 7:00amI just got on the scale. I should have gone spinning.

After our two short hikes we headed back down the canyon in the shuttles to our cars and then out of the park to our cabin. The drive out was beautiful. We had to drive through the crazy Zion Tunnel that was built back in the 20's and goes right through the solid rock of the mountains. It was designed only to accommodate Model T's so RV's and some trucks can only make it through if traffic is stopped and they can drive down the middle of the road. We had to wait a bit for our turn but it was really cool to drive through. It was pitch black and the air was COLD.
It took about an hour to get to our cabin in Duck Creek Village. What a different scene it was. High in the mountains with lots of trees and the temps were a lot cooler. The cabin was MORE then we expected. It was basically like staying in someone's home for the weekend and definitely NOT like camping. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a family room, living room (with a big plasma TV and Wii system, a dvd library, cd library and even some fun old cassette tapes to listen to) fully equipped kitchen and bathrooms, and it was three stories.
We spent our first night unpacking and grilling up some dinner. The town was so cute and small, they even held open the general store for us to come get some supplies. Who closes at 5 p.m. on a weeknight? A really small town! Then after the kiddos went to bed we played some poker. Papa won of course, with Todd coming in a close second.
Friday morning we headed back out to the park. We got a late start after breakfast and didn't get there until afternoon. This was my FAVORITE part of the trip. We were off to hike up the Narrows. It was everything I remembered from our last trip there about 5 years ago. The water temps were supposed to be 50 degrees but it sure didn't feel like it. It was refreshing and felt great, even if it was a little chilly at times. Todd had Morgan in the backpack and I couldn't imagine how he did it. I felt like I was gonna fall about 100 times, even with my walking stick and snazzy rented special water shoes and wetsuit socks. We spent a few hours hiking up and taking lots of pictures. Todd found a really cool little spot were they could jump off a rock and into a deeper pool of water. He stayed with Morgan and Papa so she could play in the mud and the rest of us headed up a few more turns for more pictures. Heading back down was a lot easier and faster and by then, Morgan had had enough water for the day.

Cruel and Unusual Punishment for Indiana Basketball?
By: Marc Halbig, 1995 IU graduate
One day, life will seem brighter for Indiana University basketball. In the meantime, we (I am an IU graduate) still await our sentence from the NCAA for Kelvin Sampson’s phone call addiction and now we have the new “failure to monitor” charge against the university. The final decision that was weeks away from being delivered now seems months away. The wild speculation has started anew.
Does IU deserve to be punished? You bet. Will IU be punished? Guaranteed. How bad will the punishment be? That is the question. To gain perspective, I researched five different NCAA cases against NCAA member basketball programs.

Nolan would not identify the employees under investigation, or comment on the towns probe because it is not complete.
A town policy adopted in 1989 mandated that Islips cell phones be used only for town business. Otherwise, Nolan said, there was no central database of cell phone bills, no policy on who should get a phone or how the town should manage its mobile plans.
On May 1, the town will shut off 112 or 36 percent of the towns 310 phones. Three others were handed in this month. Employees who keep their phones will be required to reimburse the town for all personal calls, at 40 cents per minute something Nolan said he has done with his own cell phone account since he took office in November 2006. Town records obtained by Newsday show a haphazard collection of mobile phone accounts.
Islip is paying for 10 phones assigned to employees who have retired or left the town. Another account is still active even though its user, a code enforcement investigator, died in December 2006.
During their review, town officials called 25 phones up to four times but never determined whom the phones had been assigned to. And in the data processing department, one phone costs $73 per month while another costs $41.
The average cell phone holder excluding the 74 who didnt use their phones at all talked for 242 minutes per month. But 11 employees used more than 1,000 minutes per month, including two who used more than 2,000 minutes.
Under the towns new policy, cell phones will be made available to elected officials, commissioners and their deputies, department heads, emergency response personnel and code enforcement officers. Other employees can apply for a mobile if its deemed necessary to their work.

The Nixa Lady Eagles traveled to Waynesville Thursday evening to take on the state power Lady Tigers. The Waynesville Lady Tigers have only been defeated at one tournament this year. That tournament was a national quality event in Iowa. Also, #10 senior forward Katie Pritchard, is number two on the list of the state of Missouris all time, career scoring leaders.
Nixa proved once again that they are capable of beating any team on any given night as they gave Waynesville everything they wanted and then some. The game started with Pritchard and her Lady Tigers teammates pushing the Lady Eagles into their defensive third. Waynesville got off several shots in the first ten minutes, but most were contested and not particularly dangerous for Nixa freshman goalie Kristen Miller. You could see the Lady Eagles gaining in confidence after the initial barrage proved fruitless for their opponents. As more time passed, Nixa began holding possession themselves and were able to hold the ball in Waynesvilles half, getting off a few shots of their own.
By the middle of the first half, the play was fairly even between the two teams. Nixas Miller gave her team a shot of energy when she took on Waynesvilles Pritchard midway through the first half. Pritchard was able to slip by her Nixa defender just above the 18 box and break towards goal. Miller came out about twelve yards off her line and met Pritchard who attempted to beat her on the dribble and shoot one to the open net. Miller would have none of it however and dove to the ball at Pritchards feet. Miller enveloped the ball and took a kick to the face in the process. It was a great save and further frustrated the Lady Tigers players and fans.
Senior stopper Jacklyn Finley would send the Lady Eagles to half with a 1-0 advantage when she scored on a direct kick in the 39th minute. The kick was taken at the D, just above the penalty area. Finley hit the ball perfectly. It was struck hard and flew over the wall, which was positioned about ten yards in front of the goal line, under the cross bar and over the goalies outstretched hands. It was an excellent shot and should prove to be a lasting memory for the Nixa senior playing in her last regular season game.
There was a certain foreboding as the second half began. The Lady Tigers would surely fight back and have the ability to score in bunches. Waynesville, in fact, did come out very aggressive to open the second half. Again, play for the first ten minutes was mostly in Nixas defending third of the field. Katie Pritchard was able to score in this half however. She scored on a PK after a penalty was called on Nixa in the box. The free kick was struck hard and with confidence. It tied the score 1-1.
About five minutes later, in the 56th minute, the Lady Tigers crossed a ball from the right side into a crowded 6 yard box. #3 junior Lynette Newcomb was able to get the ball to her feet and shoot it past the group of defenders and past a shielded Miller. The score gave Waynesville a 2-1 lead.
Nixa responded like champions. Instead of dropping their heads, the Lady Eagles were determined to fight hard. They put Waynesville back on their heals and controlled possession after getting behind. In the 68th minute, senior forward Stephanie Allen was able to get the ball and out run the Waynesville defense. She came clear about 25 yards from the goal and was rushing toward the goalie. At about 10 yards from the goalie, Allen was tripped by her pursuer and earned the Penalty Kick. Allen calmly finished the play as she beat the goalie and tied the score 2-2.
The rest of regulation and the first overtime period were primarily controlled by Waynesville with an fairly frequent counter attack by the Lady Eagles. In the last minute of the second overtime, Katie Pritchard won the game for the Lady Tigers. She received the ball deep in Nixa territory after a sustained offensive possession by Waynesville. With her back to the goal, Pritchard was able to turn at the top of the penalty area, juke her defender and gain enough space to rifle a ball with her right foot to the far left side of the goal. The golden goal finished the contest.
The game was played on Waynesvilles artificial turf. The speed of play was fast and the Lady Eagles improved greatly in their shape from their earlier artificial turf game against Joplin. That is important because Nixa takes on Joplin at Junge Field in the first round of district play on Monday night.
Each and every Nixa player played hard, played well, and should be proud. It was a tremendously entertaining match. Thank you ladies for your hard work, skill, and no-quit attitude. It was a lot of fun.

Calvary Baptist Church is a family of people who seek to live joyful, meaningful lives that have a positive influence on our world. The Lord is shaping us into a worshiping community that truly loves Him and loves people.
This church family is quite diverse, with ministries that involve people of every age group. Diversity can lead to depth and creativity if there is a common commitment that holds us together. Our common commitment to follow Jesus Christ is allowing us to enjoy the strength of a growing ministry to Seniors even while the Nursery is filling up with babies.
The building where our church meets is located in Coquitlam, BC, Canada, a community that has many young families - so our ministry to children and youth is a priority. That’s where the building is, but this church lives throughout the Tri-Cities communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, as well as Anmore and Belcarra, BC.
Take a few minutes to have a look around, then if you’re in the neighbourhood, come and see us. There’s a place in this family for you.

The Baker County Council on Aging is observing the 4th of July by displaying the patriotic creation of one of the seniors the organization serves. David Kurtz, a familiar face at the COA, learned to crochet from the ladies who enjoy the craft at the center. After he mastered the skill, he had a vision of creating an American Flag. It took him over six months to produce the red, whit.e and blue flag which he decorated with white felt stars and a gold border. The flag measures three by five feet and earned a blue ribbon in a past Baker County Fair. It will be mounted inside the COA building for the centers Independence Day party and will remain there indefinitely. Above, Mr. Kurtz proudly displays his American flag.
