There is a wide array of different poker tournaments on the Net that a person can to participate in at any point in time.
Before you charge off and sign up for an online poker tourney, you should have at least a basic understanding of some of the general rules and practices associated with online poker tournaments. Of course, there are some similarities between the rules and practices associated with poker in cyberspace and poker in the real world.
In any event, what follows is a brief overview of what you can expect in the way or rules, practices and procedures as the same pertain to online poker tournaments in this day and age.
Basic Rules of Online Poker Tournaments:
Naturally, like in the brick and mortar world, each individual poker tournament can adopt its own set of rules. Thus, there is often at least a degree of variation between the rules at one or another of the different online poker tournaments that a person might find on the World Wide Web. With that said, there are some rules and regulations that are standard to the majority of all poker tournaments that are played on the Net or off.
First, all participants in an online poker tournament will start play at the same time. There are no staggered of starts such as might be found in other types of competitive tournament play.
Second, each player in an online poker tournament will begin play with the same number of chips. As the chips are depleted, some tournaments to allow participants the ability to buy more chips up to the amount that they started with in the first instance. (This is done through the re-buy or add-on process.)
Third, the tournament ante or bid level increases at regular intervals throughout the competition itself. In some tournaments the ante or bid level will increase based on the passing of a specified amount of time. In single table tournaments, the ante or bid level may increase after the passage of a specified number of play periods.
Fourth, a player is able to continue playing in a given tournament until he or she completely runs out of chips. The player left standing, the player who is the last in possession of chips, is declared the winner of the online poker tournament.
Prizes and Winnings
Once the ultimate winner of an online poker tournament has been determined, the prize money will be distributed according to the rules of the competition. As has been mentioned previously, each online poker tournament does establish its own rules. And, as has also been mentioned previously in this article, there are some general rules and procedures that can be found in nearly all Internet based poker tournaments.
The very top winner out of all of the participants in a given online poker tournament will garner the bulk of the prize money. In most cases, when it comes to an online poker tournament, the first place winner will get about 40% of the purse, 40% of the prize money in the competition.
As a general practice in online poker tournaments the second place winner will get about 20% of the available prize money. The third place winner will receive about 10% of the available prize money.
In some instances, an online poker tournament will offer other types of prizes. As an example, in a satellite tournament - where a person is playing in order to gain the right to play in a more major tournament - the prize itself may be entry into the more major tournament, entrance fee being included.
If you are interested in participating in an online poker tournament, it is in your best interests to take the time to consider the rules and regulations of that tournament before you actually sign up. By familiarizing yourself with these rules, regulations and practices before a tournament, you will be in a sound position of knowing what to expect during the course of the tournament itself.

Oh what a crazy yet fun week this has been. Classes have started, both of our jobs are at peak time AND we had soccer camp at church every night this week... hence the reasons why I havent had the chance to post much :)
Soccer Camp has been a lot of fun! At Union View instead of a typical Vacation Bible School, we incorporate everything around bringing kids in to play soccer and therefore getting the chance to share Jesus with them. JR and I are both coaches (I am with the little ones and he with the big kiddos) and even though we really have no clue much about the actual sport itself, we have been able to love on plenty of kids and that has been so much fun! Enjoy this montage of the last 2 nights of camp... tonight is the final night!.

(Or, pretentious reflections before another NFL season)
What draws me to football is often the story, the narrative. There are overarching narratives: the Minnesota Vikings, a long storied history, always so close to transcendent glory, but always failing in tragic and comic fashion and falling just short. It is the narrative of a quest (will they ever finally reach the goal?) but it is also a narrative of tragedy (no, they cannot). And there is the narrative of a season for each team. All the little dramas, all the conflicts, all the events and plot. A team could be successful but for one tragic flaw, one weakness, one area of the game it performs poorly at. The drama may come from the team's repeated efforts to improve on (or cover up that weakness), or it may come from the team's repeated failures because of that weakness. Each season has a narrative, each franchise has a narrative, each game has a narrative, each player has a narrative. Many of the expected narratives have already been constructed for the 2008 season. "Tarvaris Jackson is the weak link on a Super Bowl contender: can he perform?" "How will the Patriots respond to a season that included 18 straight wins but one ultimate loss?" "Will Aaron Rodgers be able to replace a beloved legend?" These are the "stories" we'll follow, and we don't know how they'll end, but we know the dramatic issues the stories will be full of. We know the theme. Mostly it is a quest narrative, and it is also a plot with explicit conflict, explicit action. Each game is a clear moment, episode, event.
And there are the characters, characters in action. They are characters we come to "know," and we know them by their works. We assess them, judge them, interpret them, psychoanalyze them, root for them, root against them, we relate to them, we empathize with them, we become frustrated with them, we are annoyed by them--in short, we do the same things we might do to characters we encounter in fiction. There are villains and there are heroes (though we know that often it is we who choose which are the villains and which are the heroes). I can't say these characters are as familiar to me as those people I know in my life. But I can say they are as familiar to me as the characters I've come to know in novels I've read and enjoyed. Just read the names, and you'll find you "know" the character too. You've assessed the character and have an opinion of the character. Bill Belichick. Brett Favre. Terrell Owens. Brad Childress. Tom Brady. Randy Moss. Adrian Peterson. When you see the name, the character comes to you. The name itself means something to you that probably can't be paraphrased or easily articulated.
Every game and every season is something of a morality play, with the characters acting, with real events, with a driving plot, leading to a conclusion. Ah, the conclusion. In life there is no real conclusion but death. But in fiction, even if the ending is ambiguous, even if the ending is a cliff-hanger, even if we do not understand the ending, even if a writer like John Fowles decides that one ending isn't quite enough and we'll have more, the book still ends. There's always a last page. The author may decide to leave characters and readers hanging in an unresolved conclusion, but you still get to put the book away when it's finished. How often in life do you get to put anything away and call it finished? And that is where football is like a novel. We know that it will end. All the complexities and open-endedness and confusions of life may play out in the chaos of the line of scrimmage or the bouncing of an odd-shaped ball. But unlike real life, the game is going to end with a winner and a loser (in rare cases, a tie). Unlike real life, each season gives us teams with a record, division winners and playoff teams and those that aren't. There's something. I know that sometime in February 2009, I'm going to see a conclusion to this mad thing called an NFL season that's about to start. The season itself is full of open roads, potentials, possibilities, mysteries--anything might happen. But in February, one team will have done what it takes throughout the madness to emerge as the Super Bowl champion, to be the winner, to have come out as the hero of the narrative. Along the way there will be fading characters, emerging characters, and scapegoats. There will be emotional highs and lows. But the game will end with a winner, and the season will end with a winner. Sure, there's still a future, still a time for hope--it's not the last book you'll ever read. But there's a finality, an ultimate meaning that the season gives us.
And so it comes upon us. Another NFL season is about to start; a new book lies waiting to be opened. I have expectations of the book. I'll open it, and get a sense of the tone, find the narrative, follow the interesting characters and pay little attention to the uninteresting, take interest in the episodes that make up the plot, see patterns and themes and meaning. I'll be moved emotionally, and I'll develop ideas. Along the way I'll talk to people who are reading the same book, find their opinions on it, argue with them about it. I'll share my interpretations and theories, and I'll listen to theirs. I'll certainly laugh and smile and cheer and dance and feel a buoying euphoria. I'll also yell and get frustrated and sad, feeling weighed down by disappointment. I might cry, but I also might learn something. I'll carry the book with me when I'm not reading it, mulling it, letting it color my worldview and shape my mood. I'll think about it and long to return to it while I'm not reading.
And for me, at least, watching football and reading books are not just a minor hobby, an entertainment to pass the time. Reading books is not only a part of my career, but it is a part of my soul: what I read changes me, teaches me, moves me, provides my religious sensibilities, my morality, my philosophies, my hopes and aspirations. And watching football is something like that, no small part of life. Football takes my intellectual and emotional energy in big clumps (not to mention my time), but it also provides something--fun, joy, energy, passion. It will affect my thoughts and feelings for much of each week.
Football is the book I don't want to put down.
And now it starts again. I'm guessing, if you're not only watching the Vikings but bothering to visit a blog in August to read about the Vikings, that football means something big to you too. I'm not alone in anticipating not just the start of a professional sports league's season, but a shift in the rhythms of life. Schedules are altered. The devotion leads to a whole different way of thinking, of acting, of being. Some deep part of us is affected. Sports are not trivial--that which inspires real passion cannot be. And here it comes.
Are you ready.

My brother emailed me about the sorry state of our health care industry after recently watching Micheal Moores documentary This was my reply:
Its almost virtually impossible to make the health care industry non-profit, because its not just about the health insurance companies. Its about the cost of health care in general. Doctors fees, hospital fees, prescription drug costs (pharmaceuticals are a huge industry). If you make the health care industry health care companies will go out of business because the cost of health care rises every year.
Did you hear the story of the girl who needed cancer treatment but Cigna wouldnt pay for it because she had out her benefits. Family and friends protested and made it a public interest story, which of course it is, so Cigna rescinded. Unfortunately, it was too late and the girl died. She probably would have died anyway, which is why Cigna initially denied the claim. If you watch House a lot, youll see that sometimes he has to go around the system to find a heart or liver to his patient if the patient isnt on the top of the list. Ive heard that doctors contracted with Blue Cross HMO have been opting out of their contracts because Blue Cross isnt reimbursing them enough for their claims. But some of my doctors have told me that Blue Cross reimburses them the most out of all the other insurance companies they are contracted with.
Anyway, people have been talking about universal health care for a long time. Id like to see the U.S. adopt a universal health care system, but that means a lot of standardization across the board among health care carriers and health care providers, as well as increased federal government regulation. Wed almost have a socialized health care industry, and while that may work in Canada and Britain, our health care industry is so out of control, the only way we can change it is by reforming the lifestyle of every American. Meaning cracking down on fast food, prohibiting alcohol and cigarettes, strictly enforce speeding limits, anything and everything you can think of to decrease the risk of people getting sick and injured and dying and in general doing stupid things to risk their lives and other peoples. Do you want a society that limits our freedoms to such extreme? Did you know in Japan employers are weighing their workers to ensure their weight is within the recommended BMI?
Im not against regulating health care costs and providing needy people with low-cost health insurance. There are non-profits like the Head Start programs that provide free but limited health care to the children and families enrolled in their program, but its for low-income families and children in early childhood development classes. These programs make sure the children get their immunizations and physicals and live in safe environments. There are also state and government programs that provide limited health insurance at low to no cost for low-income and underprivileged children and families and needy adults, such as MediCal in California and for seniors Medicare. The health care industry in our country is broke, and we do have to fix it, because right now it seems that they only way you can get affordable health care is by working for a company that provides benefits. But can you imagine how much your employer pays for the full cost of your health insurance? This is one reason its hard for small business to thrive in this country.
I believe the health care industry does need to be reformed but I also believe that people need to work harder to contribute to change and be proactive in making changes to better their lives and future of our nation. I would like to see the cost of health care decrease because I am paying a hell of a lot for my CO
A premium. The only way I personally can do something about this is buy getting a job and getting healthier in order to hold down that job. But I have a mental illness which makes doing the little things overwhelming even though I want to get them done.
Michael Moore is going to paint the most negative and villainous portrait of anything that interests him, mainly to show how fucked up our society is. But in doing so hes dismissing the principles this country was built on: capitalism and democracy. Im not a huge fan of capitalism. I try not to spend a lot of money and stay in my room most of the time. Im a quiet person with a robust voice. If Im not depressed and feeling a bit hypomanic and restless, Ill go on shopping sprees, mostly to buy DVDs and CDs and books and games. These do not come free. Although theres a Walmart in China, Im pretty sure the Chinese people dont have as much freedom as we do. Even the Internet and Google searches are censored. I dont want to live in that kind of world.
Another thing we can do besides taking personal responsibility for our health is to campaign for health care reform by writing to our leaders, reps and senators, Congress, lobbies, non-violent protest, marches, etc. But we need a leader. Where are the Martin Luther Kings of our days? Where are the movements? I hear people complain all the time about the health care situation, but no one is doing anything, except all in our small ways. And maybe thats the message we need to take to the people. If you dont have a better plan to reform the health care industry, maybe you should reform yourself. Stop contributing to the waste, excessiveness, and extravagance of American culture, and contribute to improving the lives of all Americans.

Those who wandered the hallways of the Rio during the 2008 World Series of Poker knew that the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) was out in force, spreading the message about the importance of players’ involvement in politics. The PPA booth was regularly buzzing with poker enthusiasts who wanted to become members, contact their members of Congress, and participate in the process.

Question:
My question relates to the ARs mechanics of signaling for an offside offense.
Attacker #1 is in an offside position when the ball is played (for this instance he is very close to the 2nd to last defender so the AR is also at the same relative location on the touch line).
Attacker #2 is in an onside position when the ball is played.
Both attackers are making an effort to play the ball along with a defender, but it is not yet clear which attacker (if any) will play the ball first. Also, attacker #1 is not interfering with (impeding) the defenders ability to play the ball. Obviously, if either the defender, or attacker #2 play the ball first, there is no offside to call. However, if attacker #1 plays the ball first, then it is an offside offense.
The question is on mechanics. Which of the following would be correct?
#1 - The AR stays in position when the ball was played and then raises the flag when attacker #1 touches the ball. When the referee sees the raised flag and blows the whistle, the AR makes eye contact w/ the referee and points to the correct far side, middle, or near side. The position of the restart is where the AR is standing.
#2 - The AR runs down the touch line maintaining proper position with either the ball or 2nd to last defender, and then raises the flag when attacker #1 touches the ball. When the referee sees the raised flag and blows the whistle, the AR makes eye contact w/ the referee and points the flag to the correct far side, middle, or near side. The position of the restart is where the AR is standing.
#3 - The AR runs down the touch line maintaining proper position with either the ball or 2nd to last defender, and then raises the flag when attacker #1 touches the ball. When the referee sees the raised flag and blows the whistle, the AR makes eye contact with the referee, lowers the flag and runs up the touch line (maintaining eye contact with the referee) to the initial position attacker #1 was at when the ball was played (the time he was determined to be offside) and points the flag to the correct far side, middle, or near side. The position of the restart is where the AR is standing.
#4 - Do you have another option ?
The problem with #1 is that the AR will be out of position should either attacker #2 or the defender have the first touch. The AR would be out of position to possibly actually see who had the first touch. The AR would be out of position to possibly see a subsequent offside offense or any other fouls or misconduct in his/her end of the field.
The problem with #2, which I believe is the most common performed (and I am also guilty of performing), is that the restart is not in the correct location. Depending on the initial location of attacker #1, the size of the field, and the ages of players, this could actually result in an advantage for the attacking team. For example, the initial position of attacker #1 was only 3 yards into the attacking half, and the next touch of the ball is just at the top of the penalty area, and the players are 12 years old (or even adults for that matter).
The problem with #3, which I believe is the right thing to do, is that it would most likely create much discussion (and yelling from sidelines).
There is no advice on this topic that I can locate.
Thank you for your opinions / advice.
USSF answer (August 18, 2008):
The correct option is none of the above, although #2 is the closest of the bunch.
The AR runs down the touch line, maintaining proper position with either the ball or second-last defender, and then raises the flag when attacker #1 touches the ball or it is clear that attacker #2 cannot get to the ball ahead of attacker #1. When the referee sees the raised flag and blows the whistle, the AR makes eye contact with the referee and points the flag to the far, middle or near side, whichever is correct. The AR then moves back down the touch line to a point in line with the correct spot for the restart.

From its introduction to the public in years 60, the vehicle all land (ATV) has found many controversies. Some of these have taken care of the application the security, like ATVs wheel of original the 3 demonstrated to be too dangerous for the riders. ATVs of four wheels still improved even represents certain risks. Another controversy has been the limits of age for the riders of ATVs. Many states have prohibited to juniors under age of 16 to lead a ATV. One of the most predominant controversies with respect to ATVs, nevertheless, has been the definition of the areas in which they are allowed. Where and when these vehicles are conducted has arisen continuously like edition, so many of the conductive laws of the irresponsible indifference that prohibit the use of ATVs in certain areas.
The editions that surround ATVs and use by earth are many. A serious problem is that many riders cross intentionally above in characteristic of private property. Also they have made a habit cross in the public and the private properties where they do not think obvious to be. Often, the use of a ATV is limited the signs final, but the riders still feel the necessity to leave to these signs and company ignited to the other characteristic.
The ecologists are some of the greatest opponents of ATVs. They think that the riders who use ATVs for the intentions sporting are thoughtless of the atmosphere. For example, they demand that the vehicle is used excessively in the areas that to a large extent are considered biological sensible, for example sand moist soils and dunes. The ecologists demand that the deep footsteps in the tires of alguÌ n ATV are able to dig the channels that drain marshy areas. Also they demand that these tires damage the careful preparation of the majority of the signs of snowmobile and increase the levels of sedimentation in currents. The authors of ATVs, nevertheless, maintain that the deep-stepped on tires are necessary for muddy and the safe often rocky land navigation. Also they indicate to a number of results that attribute to the erosion and the sensible decay of the habitat to the planning and to the industries of cover of towards be-of-control that extract merchandize and the materials of these stop - the delicate areas.
The groups of ATV pressure have organized to approach these editions. Some of these groups have even gone as far as buying the Earth so that the ATV riders use. They have taken additional measures, such as appropriate building and signs that they maintained for ATVs and permission of the direct obtaining of landowners to use his earth to mount ATVs. More important, many of these groups of pressure are had trusting to educate to riders of ATV as far as the best ways of which they can use surely and ATVs person in charge.
Unfortunately, those that often do not follow the rules negatively affect the image of the great majority of responsible riders. Those that sees adjustment to mount dull indicated signs, in earth deprived without the permission, and low influence of the alcohol or drugs they create a great amount of problems for which they play by the rules. Recreationists that is upset on irresponsible use of ATV includes snowmobilers that feels as if their signs are used bad. The hunters also have complained about ATVs, because the strong noise of the motor often interrupts its attempt to take the game. Does it seem to you that you play a few strokes over your Course Handicap most of the time? Well, thats normal under the USGA Handicap System.
Why? The USGA Handicap System is based upon the potential ability of a player rather than the average of all his scores. The USGAs Handicap Research Team tells us that the average player is expected to play to his Course Handicap or better only about 25 percent of the time, average three strokes higher than his Course Handicap, and have a best score in 20, which is only two strokes better than his Course Handicap.
A few words and a little arithmetic may explain. A players Handicap Index reflects his potential because it is based upon his best scores posted for a given number of rounds, ideally the best 10 of his last 20 rounds. Since the USGA has his worst 10 scores tossed out, his Handicap Index reflects his best days.
The arithmetic comes in when the golf club calculates a players Differential for each score he posts. The Differential is the difference between a players adjusted gross score and the USGA Course Rating of the course on which the score was made, multiplied by 113, and then the total is divided by the USGA Slope Rating from the tees played rounded off to one decimal place.
For example, if you post an 80 on a course with a Course Rating of 68.7 and a Slope Rating of 105, your Handicap Differential is 12.2. The next step entails averaging your best Handicap Differentials, which your golf club or association then will multiply by a 96-percent bonus for excellence factor that slightly favors the lower-handicap player. The next step is to delete all numbers after the first decimal digit, with no rounding off to the nearest tenth. Your club Handicap Committee then reviews your record, modifies it, if necessary and then issues your USGA Handicap Index.
If you have a USGA Handicap Index of 11.6, for instance, it translates into a Course Handicap of 14 when you play from the middle tees one day at a course with a Course Rating of 72.1, with a Slope Rating of 135. So a little addition (72.1 + 14) leads you to think that you will consistently shoot around 86. In reality, your score average is normally three more strokes than that, or an 89. The USGA Handicap Research Team has determined that your best score in 20 is normally only two strokes better than your Course Handicap, or an 84; the probability of your recording an 83 twice in 20 rounds is only one in 50.
A good way to think of the range of scores upon which your USGA Handicap Index is based is the old bell curve that school teachers refer to when discussing the range of scores on an exam. The scores of most players, when plotted out, are distributed on a bell curve from the high to low end of the scale. Thus, when you drop out the worst half of your scores, the average of the remaining 10 scores on the upper part of the bell curve reflect your potential ability.
Now, once in a while you will hear about someone shooting an incredible tournament score, such as a net score of 59. What are the odds of shooting a score like that? These tables from the USGAs Handicap Research Team have figured the odds of one exceptional tournament score up to ten strokes better than the Course Handicap.
For example, the odds of our example player with a Course Handicap of 14 beating it by eight strokes (-8 net) once is 1,138 to one. Put another way, the average player posts 21 scores a year. That means that to score this well, assuming the Handicap Index is correct, would take 54 years of golf to do it once. The odds of a player beating his Course Handicap by eight strokes twice is only 14,912 to one. Thats 710 years of golf for the average player odds far beyond the realm of reasonableness.
Since the USGA Handicap System is designed to promote fairness during competitions, what happens if a players scores contradict the odds and he consistently plays better than his Handicap Index when some crystal or trophies are at stake? The USGA has created a Formula - well spare you all the complicated arithmetic - that is outlined in the USGA Handicap System manual under Section 10-3, Reduction of a USGA Handicap Index Based on Exceptional Tournament Scores. A players USGA Handicap Index will be automatically reduced when he records at least two tournament scores in a calendar year or in his latest 20 rounds that are a minimum of three strokes better than his USGA Handicap Index. The better the scores, the greater the reduction.
The end result is youve got your USGA Handicap Index for better or for worse. Dont worry if you never seem to play to it on a given day. All golfers are in the same boat because USGA Handicap Indexes are based on a players potential ability rather than the average of his scores. You can do your part to make the USGA Handicap System work best by making sure all tournament scores by all players get posted with a so that they are reviewed and used under Section 10-3.

One of the key cogs in the Tommies offence for the past 3 seasons, Bateman had better than a point per game average in both playoffs and regular season for the Green and Gold. Jeff's AUS career was unfortunately cut short with a leg injury suffered in last year's Pete Kelly Cup tournament. Jeff's career totals with the Tommies: 23 goals and 51 assists for 74 points in 63 regular season contests; 1 goal and 13 assists for 14 points in 11 playoff games. He led the Tommies in scoring in the 06-07 season (13-23-36) and led the team with a remarkable 1.8 point per game pace and +11 rating in his abbreviated 07-08 campaign. Jeff quietly went about his business for the Tommies, performing at a high level and making those around him better hockey players, while unfortunately never receiving the accolades he deserved in the way of official award recognition by the AUS. Rest assured, Jeff is appreciated by Tommies fans who have enjoyed watching him at the Beav.

Darkson Design teamed up with Pulp City to host a joint event to demo their models and systems at Gencon Indi 2008.
1 hour demo is divided into 7 segments.
Ever wanted to participate in a 2 hour event, but they arent holding it in your area. Well this is what Gencon Indianapolis is great for. All those small systems that never make it you your local gaming store for demos.
I was interested in both Darkson designs alternative World War II system AE WWII and Pulp Citys super hero system. The designers are good friends and decided to host some cross-over events at Gencon, allowing me to see both sets of models and systems in place.
The following 2 hour demo/event has been condensed down to 1 hour in 7 parts.
Parts 1 through 4 are all set up explanation of the system and scenario, while 5-7 are the actual scenario being played.
Both systems are an alternating activation system, that allows both sides of the battle to remain engaged in the course of the game by keeping them actively involved in the play throughout the game, no taking a nap or going to get lunch while your opponent takes his or her turn.
AE WWII has every unit on each side activating for each turn, while Pulp City provides a pool reservoir of actions that can be used to activate the units on each side. Pulp Citys has a maximum number of activations per model, but if you run out of activations in your pool, your side is done that turn, even if your model has not reached its maximum number of activations yet.
Both systems do not allow you to cross over turns to perform multi-activation actions (such as loading which requires 2 activations). AE WWII does have the ability for one model to loan its activations to other models, allowing that other model to activate more times than normal.
As expected, Pulp Cities super heros and villains have multiple wounds, while AE WWIIs individuals have only from 1 to 2 wounds for each model.
AE WWII weapons run the anticipated range of weapons that were available during the time period of 1935 to 1942, but it add in a whole another range of sci-fi and psionic weapons due to the alternative history and expansion of the war from a very Pulp comic book view point. This makes for some very interesting combinations and made for a great pairing with Pulp City and its super heros.
Problems I foresee for Pulp city is making a unique place for itself in the Super-hero miniature market. They do have more depth than Hero clix, so dont go into the game expecting just another game of that. These super heros/villians have agendas to help make their roles unique. But Pulp City might have to do more to make itself more unique than a Champion (Hero Systems) competitor or any of the other Superhero RPG systems that are out there.
AE WWII has created a unique environment for itself that sets itself apart from Flames of War or other WWII miniature games in the market. The designers at Darkson Designs provided a sneak peek at several new models and vehicles to show that the vision that is pushing AE WWII is seeking a fresh approach and is actively seeking to grow their line with quality sculpts and vehicular rules.
What was apparent from both AE WWII and Pulp City is that models and units will die, so the battlefield situation is very dynamic and require tactics and thought to achieve your objective. The straight forward hulk smash mentality will not help you achieve your gaming goals in either of these games.

Over the last couple of weeks, the site has been performing well overall, but Search has not. We have more Over the last couple of weeks, the site has been performing well overall, but Search has not.
We have 48 search servers, and right now they are all maxed-out with queries. We're adding 20 more servers this afternoon, and although this will help, it will not bring the level of service our customers have come to expect.
We've been tweaking the system constantly since the issues started a few weeks ago, and have had some success. But more importantly, we've planned some more thorough back-end architecture changes which will be implemented over the next few weeks. We believe these larger changes will help rectify the issues. We understand that the current situation is certainly not optimal, but we're doing what we can as quickly as we can to make iStock a first-rate experience.
In the mean time, you may have been seeing a new error message, and we'd like to explain it.
Your search failed because our servers were too busy to fulfill your request. This sometimes happens with searches that are very broad or complex and return massive numbers of results. Try narrowing your search to something more specific, or using less 'or' modifiers. If the problem persists, please contact Support.
Normally queries take less than a second to complete on our search servers. If a query takes over 30 seconds, we know something is wrong, and we are set up to kill that query in order to maintain overall site performance. So you'll see that message above if your query times out. Please note that we've always killed these queries, but in the past we would just return zero results. That wasn't optimal either, but now that we're dealing with so many search time-outs, we're providing the more detailed message in order to clarify what's happening.
We are working as hard as we can to get everything running as quickly as possible: it's our top priority. Thank you for your patience during this period. We'll do our best to keep you updated.

Theres a running joke on the GFW radio podcast about turning games into narratives. Shawn Elliott and Robert Ashley say: Thrusting a narrative onto any game at all is like trying to tell a story with a minigolf course. Video games are no more a narrative medium than minigolf; their basic contours are defined by the demands of play, not storytelling.
Why modern game designers are so bent on throwing a thin veil of story over the most innocuous and self-explanatory forms of play Tetris, Bejeweled, and what-have-you is an interesting question in itself. When I played Boom Blox, I never required an explanation of why I was hurling balls at block-towers, and still less one that involved saving a townfull of block-beavers. There is something willfully perverse about devoting man-hours towards concocting a narrative excuse for tossing virtual bowling-balls at towers. Throwing shit at towers is its own reward.
But on the other hand, I think that the whole argument does too little credit to our intrinsic human craving to turn every experience into a narrative. Case in point: When I was at Cedar Point this summer (Americas Roller Coast!) I rode a roller coaster with a story. Last summer, I actually played a mini golf course with a narrative. If you watch a lot of sports coverage (and the Olympics is a good case of this) it dawns on you that every aspect of competition is covered by subjecting it to a narrative logic: a runners struggle to overcome the obstacles of his troubled youth, the gymnasts last shot at redemption.
Narrative, like play, is one of the most basic tools we posses as human beings for coping with experience. And just as play can be fundamentally empowering, there is something distinctly empowering about using the tools of narrative to throw a net of meaning over our lives. It is by spinning out stories and engaging in play that we get our most distinctive sense of our selves as people, come to understand who we are, understand the natural and social world around us, and turn that world to our ends. Games always find themselves getting arbitrarily transformed into stories because the play and storytelling have a common function in human life.
I was reading Joseph Os excellent novel Netherland earlier this summer, and that book stuck with me when I was thinking about the function of narrative outside of literature. Netherland is about a lot of things immigrant experience, cricket, the aftermath of 9/11 in New York, friendship but it is most fundamentally about the protagonists need for a narrative capable of tying his shattered life and family back together. During the novel he meets Eliza, a woman who professionally arranges photo albums for clients, culling piles and piles of photos and pasting them into leather albums. Her comment on the practice could serve as a statement of the books mastering idea:
“Eliza put away the albums. “people want a story, she said. “They like a story.”
“A story,” I said suddenly. “Yes. thats what I need.”
I wasnt kidding.
Photo arrangement is a metaphor for the basic business of making sense of our lives. The American moral philosopher David Velleman proposed a conception of moral reasoning that develops this idea in fastidious detail. On Vellemans view, moral reasoning is fundamentally about making sense of our actions past, present, and future. When we are deliberating about some act, our fundamental impulse is to think of how that act would cohere with the story we have been telling ourselves all along about rest of our behavior. Sometimes this narrative is just about the principles that underlie our action altruism, autonomy and sometimes this is more literally a story, a tale we tell ourselves about our lives. Eliza does this very thing when she constructs an album from photos of the narrators child:
“Shed done a good job. The story of my son, as she put it, was now gathered in a single leather-bound volume inscribed with his initials.
Eliza flexed a bicep triumphantly. “What did I tell you?”
“Youve got the knack,” I agreed. I didnt tell her that while her work gave me joy who can resist images of ones laughing child? it also documented my sons never-ending, never truly acceptable self-cancellations. In the space of a few pages his winter self was crossed out by his summer self which in turn was crossed out by his next self. Told thus, the story of my son is one that begins continuously, until it stops. Is this really the only possible pagination of a life?”
If photo-arranging serves as an embedded metaphor for literature, then what we need is some new guiding metaphor for making narratives within the medium of games. Elliott and Ashley dont mean to demean narrative as an activity. What they are really getting at is the fact that we dont know how to make a narrative out of play, instead of grafting a superfluous narrative onto the doing of fun things. We need some new way to make a story out of our desire to master the world by learning its rules. When we begin to figure out how to do this, we will be on the way to creating an art form.

Comment now Winning online poker game is a terrific feeling. In any online poker game the game selection is very crucial. By choosing a bad online poker game even the most skilled player can turn out to be an underdog. Choosing the right starting hands is the first best decision that one should make. Apart from choosing the right starting hands, the players must be able to analyze the hand from a variety of perspectives. Right after the pocket dealing the ranking of the hands can chance dramatically in the street rounds. In an online poker game the player will have to know about what they have to do with every card in the street rounds.
